Phillip Lim for Target

Another celeb collaboration is about to hit Target September 15 -- Phillip Lim for Target. Lim's collection is divided into morning, noon and night wardrobes. His goal was to create a solid selection of clothes for “everyday men and women” at Target’s price point. The line consists of more than 100 basics, ranging from $20 to $300.

P.S. Upon request (cough, cough Eric), I will start including men's fashion in my posts.

University of Texas "Transcend" Fashion Show

Last week I went to the "9 to 5: 100 Years of Working Women" at the University of Texas at Austin.
I met this lovely lady (pictured below) with THE coolest purse I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. The designer, D. L. Einbender, creates one-of-a-kind leather masks and purses using a technique borrowed from Renaissance Italy.

I toured the department's artifact storage rooms. The rooms were dark to preserve the fabrics, so I was unable to take many pictures.

Power Clashing

When referencing power clashing to my friends, I received perplexed looks. I've taken it upon myself to educate them and any of y'all who might find the meaning a little ambiguous. Power clashing is the combination of clothing items that, according to style etiquette, do not go together. Think of it was mixing prints. For most people that is an extreme faux pas. However, when done tastefully, people will stare at you in passing thinking, "Who's that cool cat?".

Tips:
1) Mix small and large prints
              2) Offset a floral print with polka dots
    3) Double up on the same print
         5) Keep it in the same color family
              4) Polka dots and stripes always work

My turn.

Swimsuit Trends

It's time to talk swimsuits. This past weekend I went on a major swimsuit pinning spree onto Fun in the Sun

First up are high-rise one-pieces. It's the return of the iconic 80's suit. Put a spin on it with a funky print or an open back.

Next, sportswear-inspired. Run on the beach and then soak up some sun without changing.

Now, sheer/mesh. It's not just for chiffon tops and lingerie anymore.

Now let's take time to appreciate Cindy Crawford and how she nailed all three of these trends in the 80's!

Lastly, bandage. Now your favorite form-flattering bandage dress comes in a swim edition.

BEAUTY TREND: Messy Fishtail Braids

BEAUTY TREND: Colored Eyeliner

Wasn't sure how I felt about this colorful trend at first, but it has definitely grown on me! It's been a New Year's resolution of mine to have more fun with my makeup.
